What is Compassionate Inquiry?

Developed by Gabor Maté, Compassionate Inquiry is a gentle, trauma-informed approach that helps uncover the deeper patterns beneath emotional pain, stress, and self-protective behaviors.

Rather than asking “What’s wrong with you?”, this approach invites the question, “What happened to you?” With curiosity and compassion, we explore how past experiences may be shaping present reactions, beliefs, and relationship dynamics.

Compassionate Inquiry creates a safe space to reconnect with parts of yourself that may have been silenced or guarded. Through awareness and self-compassion, healing becomes less about fixing and more about understanding—and choosing new ways of being.
